Bank of Melbourne suffers IT systems outage

Mobile, Internet and phone banking affected

Bank of Melbourne, St. George and BankSA mobile, Internet and phone banking services were restored at 11am today after being affected earlier in the morning due to an IT systems outage.

“Once the issue was identified, our IT and business teams worked to restore services as quickly as possible. ATMs were working normally during this period. Some of our branch systems were also impacted,” a spokesperson for the bank said.

The bank tweeted that its mobile, Internet and phone banking services were restored following systems maintenance.

“Customers were advised through social media channels and our call centre this morning. We are constantly upgrading our IT systems to better meet our customers’ needs and introduce new functionality,” said the spokesperson.

“While we aim to ensure continuity of our digital services, on this occasion unforeseen circumstances caused an outage.”

The spokesperson added that the bank will waive fees and other charges for those customers who needed to access emergency funds by using their credit card cash advance facility.
